BILAWAL URGES OPPOSITION FOR JOINT STRUGGLE AGAINST GOVT

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of PPP, on Friday, said on the mutual parliamentary action would yield further success for the opposition on the issues of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and accountability laws.

The meeting was held on Friday, 12th of November 2021 in Islamabad, at the residence of the Fazul-UR-Rehman. The chairman accompanied by Mr. Gilani and a senior party leader Qamar Zaman Kaira visited Rehman’s house today along with Gilani and the senior PPP leader. According to the representatives of the PPP, Mr. Bilawal and the party not only discussed the current health issues of the Maulana but also discussed the current political situation in the country.

These thoughts were shared by the PPP Chairman during a meeting with Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. This meeting was their first meeting since the Pakistan People’s Party walks out of the alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement(PDM).

The Pakistan People’s Party quit the PDM last April. It gave a show-cause notice for nominating the party leader Yousuf Raza Gilani as the opposition leader in the Senate “in violation of the unanimous decision” of the alliance.

This show-cause notice let their ways apart, and the PDM was broken down, with PPP and ANP parting their ways. It resulted in the division of the opposition parties and both of the parties were found blaming each other on the media. In August, Chief Mr. Maulana blamed the Pakistan People’s Party for trying to “stab the opposition movement in its back”. In September 2021, the PPP chief Mr. Bilawal called Mr. Rehman to refrain from “further dividing” the opposition. He asked Mr. Maulana if his remarks can further worsen the situation.
