ISLAMABAD: PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday demanded answers from former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar, asking him to come forward and tell the nation who “pressured” him and whom he “could not refuse” in relation to her and her father’s convictions in the Avenfield apartments case.

According to Maryam, a newly released audio recording purportedly bearing the voice of Nisar was the subject of a comprehensive news conference. Nisar has denied interfering with or influencing the court procedures in the case.

The PML-N leader said that when Nisar was asked what he intended to do in response to the charges levelled against him, he responded that he was “not insane” to take the issue to court.

“Whether now or tomorrow, you will have to disclose the truth to the people of this country,” Maryam stated, addressing the former Chief Justice of Pakistan. There’s still time to change your mind. Come forth and tell the country who put pressure on you to sentence Nawaz Sharif if you felt it was unjust. If Maryam Nawaz’s conviction was unjustified, you should investigate who put pressure on you to do so. What, exactly, convinced you that Imran Khan ought to be elevated to the presidency?”

“Who was it that you couldn’t say no to, despite the fact that you were the Chief Justice of Pakistan at the time?” she inquired further.

“Can you tell me why you were obliged to do an unlawful and unconstitutional step?” she inquired.

In response to questions about media coverage of the leak, she said that she would not identify the publication, but that one media organisation “assumed the duty” of analysing the video footage on their own behalf.

In her statement, she said that at first, Nisar denied any relation to the footage and stated that it is not him who can be heard in the recording. And once the television station said that his audio from other times had been combined to make the footage, “he, too, came forward to consent,” according to the report.

“This was despite the fact that a very well-known American organisation was hired to do forensic investigation on the video clip. They have declared unequivocally that the tape has not been altered in any kind.
